About Us
Located in the lovely town of Slave Lake, Alberta, Canada, the Slave Lake Community Christian Centre is
a church seeking to live out the love of Jesus. We believe church isn’t just a building—it’s a community. Our mission is simple: to grow in faith, serve our neighbours, and share the hope we’ve found in Christ. We gather each week to worship, learn, and support one another, and we’re passionate about creating a welcoming space for people of all ages and backgrounds.
We’re here to walk alongside you, no matter where you are on your journey.
Hours of Operation
Our doors open on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. for our Sunday Service.

Our Pastors
Rob & Fran Parker
Rob and his wife, Fran, arrived in Slave Lake in September 2023, beginning with us as interim pastors. In June 2024, Rob and Fran accepted a call to be our full-time pastors.
Rob studied for the ministry in Northern Ireland at the Irish Baptist College and Queen’s University. They returned to Canada in 1988, where Rob held two pastoral positions before he and Fran established The National House of Prayer in Ottawa, Ontario, in 2004.
Now, after sensing a strong call of God, here they are in Slave Lake, Alberta, where they are happy to call this home.
“We are blessed to serve alongside many who are passionate about seeing the life-changing message of Jesus spread throughout our community.”

Who We Are
Growing Together in Our Knowledge of God
We are a friendly and diverse group of people from all walks of life, seeking to encourage and build people in their individual journeys and encounters with God. We seek to follow the example of Jesus by accepting people where they're currently at. In God's timing, He brings His transforming grace to us all, filled with His love and compassion.
We love to worship God together on Sunday mornings and learn from the scriptures to deepen our daily experiences with God.
A Place for Friendships
The importance of friendship, or what we would call fellowship, is a priority among us. We realize that we can't effectively experience authentic Christianity without one another. Therefore, we strive to foster strong friendships, where we can witness the formation of lasting and trusted relationships among all ages.
Many of us may have questions about God or life in general, and we encourage people to voice any of these concerns to friends or, at times, our leadership, with the hopes that a satisfactory answer is discovered.
Strong Families
Sociologists say that the traditional family is the building block of society, and to have a strong nation, we need strong families. Equally, to have a vibrant and relevant church today, we need strong families of parents and grandparents who are actively involved in passing on their faith to their children/grandchildren.
We value all our kids and believe they are our top priority in instilling the love of God and faith in Jesus Christ as a key value in their lives. Our Sunday School seeks to bring out the best in our children and equip them through relevant Bible lessons.
Christ Centred
We believe that the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, centres on the person and work of Jesus Christ. We seek to live our lives following his example (discipleship) by embracing the good news message of salvation through Christ alone. We recognize that many, if not most, people would come from a perspective of trying to live a life that would be pleasing to God. We respect that, but we celebrate that Jesus accepts us the way we are, and then, through the Holy Spirit, begins the process of changing us from the inside out.
We celebrate the relationship we can have with God through everything Jesus has done for us on the cross.
Prayer
We love and desire the real presence of God, and it is through a posture of prayer and worship that we often experience this. Traditionally, prayer is viewed as our talking to God. Still, we see the truth that prayer is a dialogue with God, and He wants to answer us when we call out to Him, "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know", Jeremiah 33:3.
Helping individuals to discover and foster an effective prayer life is one of our primary desires as we develop our love for God together. He really does want to speak to all of us!
Equipped to Serve Others
We are also passionate about our community of Slave Lake, and we believe that personal and spiritual growth doesn't end when we walk out of a church building. God wants us involved in all aspects of our community, which includes loving our neighbours as ourselves, or seeking to do good to all people. There are various needs within our community that we love to see and support people becoming involved with some of these concerns.
Besides practical hands-on help, we also know that God wants us to share the hope that is within us by having a personal relationship with God. Therefore, from time to time, we like to equip one another in effectively sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with those who show an interest.
